Solar panels will be installed on 43 government buildings in the Panchkula district.
The Haryana government has already installed solar power plants on the roofs of 38 government buildings in Panchkula as part of its efforts to make the city a "solar city."
Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) has also signed an agreement with the government to install solar panels with a total capacity of 3,500 kW on 43 government buildings.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula Vinay Pratap Singh, the city will be developed as a solar city with a goal of meeting 20% of its energy needs from solar/renewable energy sources by 2023-24. As a means to accomplish the goal, a working group has been set up, which will carry out a series of activities over the course of three years.
At the Mini Secretariat in Sector 1, he presided over a meeting of departments involved in reviewing the solar city project.
It was also ordered that 10 locations for e-charging stations be identified by the Municipal Corporation and Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikan (HSVP), according to the Deputy Commissioner.
In his words, "work will begin as soon as the locations for the e-charging stations are finalised."
An application for a 500-kilowatt solar power plant on the CRPF Pinjore campus has been submitted to the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HERDA) (HAREDA).
It has also designated eight acres of land near Naggal village for a solar park, which will be built by the MC. In the state budget for 2021-22, the plan to turn Panchkula into a solar city was announced.

The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency has received a proposal to build a 500-kilowatt solar power plant on the CRPF campus in Pinjore.
