Global Module Shipments Exceed 100GW as Trina Solar Celebrates 25 Years in Business

Trina Solar was created in 1997 in Changzhou, China, in response to the signing of the Kyoto Protocol, making it one of the earliest photovoltaic (PV) enterprises in the world.

Trina Solar, a major PV firm, has been at the forefront of solar technology for the past 25 years, during which time silicon wafer diameter has increased from 125mm to 210mm and module power has increased from less than 100W to 690W.

Globally, photovoltaic (PV) power generation is a major source of clean energy installed in a variety of settings, including utility installations and residential rooftops.

100GW of PV modules from Trina Solar have been exported to more than 100 countries.

This 100GW of PV modules can together generate around 135 billion kWh of clean energy, lowering annual world CO2 emissions by 135 million tons and normal coal consumption by 54.54 million tons, which is equivalent to growing 7.29 billion trees.

25 years of exceptional client service

Trina Solar, the company with the longest service life for its products, also celebrates 25 years of entrepreneurship and 25 years of quality assurance.

Trina Solar has set 23 global records in technology and innovation for PV cell-conversion efficiency and module output power.

Based on its superior product performance, Trina Solar is the only PV business to receive a perfect score of 100 percent in the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Bankability Survey for six consecutive years, making it the most bankable module supplier in the industry. Additionally, the organization has obtained exceptional test results for seven consecutive years in the PVEL Product Qualification Program.

Co-creating a future carbon-free world

The International Renewable Energy Agency predicts that global PV installations will surpass 14,000GW by 2050, as renewable energy, particularly solar energy, becomes a significant source of energy and power consumption. The full-cycle maturity of Trina Solar's high-value 210 technology modules has been achieved, and the ultra-high-power modules have been deployed globally.

The PV industry is an open, inventive, and collaborative ecosystem, according to Trina Solar's chairman, Gao Jifan. Only open innovation in technology will expand the potential for growth and lead to sustainable development.

Gao stated that a new energy era with solar PV as the primary driving force has arrived.

Marking 100GW of exports as the beginning of a new journey, Trina Solar will aim to become the "green force" to change the world and contribute to the creation of a carbon-free planet as an industry leader.

"We are really pleased of our accomplishment at Trina Solar. The 100GW milestone signifies the beginning of a new energy era in which solar PV is the primary driving force. Trina Solar's Chairman, Gao Jifan, reaffirms the company's commitment to lead the solar industry in supporting the transition to a carbon-free new world as the company celebrates its 25th anniversary.
